HENRY QUENTZEL PLUMBING SUPPLY CO., INC.

In 1916, Henry Quentzel immigrated to the United States, from Russia. Barely able to speak the language, he learned the plumbing trade and began doing simple plumbing jobs in Brooklyn, NY. In the early-1950’s, Henry’s eldest son Sam, a licensed professional engineer, suggested to his father that instead of doing plumbing contracting work, he should become a plumbing supply wholesaler. Hence, Henry founded The Henry Quentzel Plumbing Supply Company, and operated out of a small storefront in Brooklyn. Then, in the mid-1950's, Sam joined his father in the now burgeoning plumbing supply company. With Sam's engineering expertise, he was able to convince his father that the company needed to broaden its scope and specialize in the sale of industrial pipe, valves, and fittings. In 1959, father and son incorporated forming what is known today as Henry Quentzel Plumbing Supply, Co., Inc. In the mid 1960’s, the company further broadened its scope to include waterworks, fire protection, and pipe fabrication. Today, the company continues to specialize in all of these areas. In response to the company’s growth, they moved a few blocks away to a larger location in Brooklyn, where it remains today. 

The years 1986 and 1987 saw the unfortunate passing of both Sam and Henry Quentzel. Having joined just one year prior, Sam’s son Andrew, was able to continue operating the company as a third generation owner. Sam’s wife Ann, became, and remains the company’s President. In 1987, Arnold Greenwald, a licensed CPA, joined the company and is now the company’s Vice President.  

The company is recognized as a major force in New York City’s plumbing supply industry. Here at Quentzel, we pride ourselves on operating out of one centrally located facility. With over 75 years of experience in plumbing supplies, we still maintain the original core beliefs that Henry and Sam held; maintaining strong inventories, delivering top quality merchandise, and providing unparalleled service and fair prices. Our modern fleet of trucks ensures next day deliveries all across the New York Metro Area, Long Island and Lower Westchester.
